Nsefu (a sister camp to Tena Tena) is sited on a sweeping bend of the South Luangwa river in the heart of the South Luangwa National Park and was the first photographic safari camp in Zambia dating back to the early 1950’s. From the lodge the views of the river are superb including an area where game come to graze during the day.
OVERVIEW
Accommodation at Nsefu comprises just six ‘rondavels’ extended to form en-suite facilities. The rooms are furnished in the classical safari style with understated elegance and each has a view of the river, both through the large windows and from the wooden verandas.
The main guest area at Nsefu consists of a bar & lounge area and dining room, overlooking a waterhole that is very productive for game, especially at night when leopard come to drink. Any mud loving animals spends many hours at the waterhole, from warthogs and buffalo to the herds of elephant who come down to drink and bath. The main species of antelope are seen throughout the day and are a feature of the camp. All this can be seen from comfortable armchairs.
Activities range from walking safaris for which Robin Pope Safaris are famed through to seasonal boating, dependent on water levels. Birding is excellent especially during the migratory season from November onwards.
The camp lies in the heart of the undeveloped Nsefu sector and so offers charm and total comfort in remoteness and seclusion.
