SHUMBA CAMP

Shumba Camp – named after a favourite species in the area, lion – is situated in the central Busanga Plains of Kafue National Park in central Zambia. The camp is sited close to permanent water and within easy reach of the floodplains which host an abundant variety of wildlife.

OVERVIEW

Accommodation at Shumba comprises just six spacious luxury safari tents, including a two bedroom unit ideal for families, with glass fronts on raised platforms with spectacular views of the surrounding plains. The tents are large and feature en-suite facilities with both indoor and outdoor showers.

The guest area at Shumba consists of a dining and bar area, elevated on decking to take in the view and the sunrise, a boma and a pool. Dinner takes place either indoors or in the cosy boma (weather permitting) where guests can also enjoy some local entertainment under the incredible Zambian night skies.

Game viewing focuses on day and night drives in open top 4×4 safari vehicles, guided game walks and, when water levels permit, boat safaris. Balloon flights are also available but this is highly seasonal. Birding is also excellent especially from November when the migratory birds arrive.
