MAFIA ISLAND LODGE

The Mafia Island Marine Park, covering an area of 821 km² is a real paradise with over 400 species of fish, amazing coral, endangered marine turtles, dolphins and the rare dugong. The rich landscape combines bush with baobabs, mangrove, palms, fruit trees and stunning sandbanks. The wildlife is equally diverse; monkeys, wild pigs, small antelopes, dwarf hippo, bush babies, fruit bats and many, many birds. The warm safe waters are an ideal place for scuba divers and snorkelers.

Accommodation consists of 14 Superior rooms, 18 Standard rooms and 2 Family rooms all set among the coconut palms with their own veranda overlooking the bay. They are all self-contained with air conditioning. The main lodge has a relaxing atmosphere with a large open restaurant, bar and lounge area.

Exciting activities in the Marine Park are diving, snorkelling and sailing. The Dive Centre is a PADI resort dive and excursions centre situated on the beachfront of the Mafia Island Lodge. Diving in the pristine reefs of the archipelago is an experience, which allows you to enjoy the amazingly varied display of marine life. It is possible to organise boat excursions and picnics to isolated islets and sandbanks located in the middle of the ocean as well as land excursions to discover the beauty of the island and its people. Nature trails and bird watching are also organised. All excursions are weather and tide dependent.
