GONDWANA KWENA LODGE

If you’re looking for an authentic short safari experience on the garden route, Gondwana is an 11,000 hectare private reserve with a good range of wildlife, a great location with stunning views. Although we focus on the main Kwena Lodge, there are also a range of private villas suitable for families or larger groups. Stay for 2 or 3 nights as part of a self drive itinerary and it offers the ideal introduction to life on safari.

OVERVIEW

The lodge itself combines modern comfort with the feel of a traditional Khoi-San dwelling. Each of the open plan suites has beautiful views of the reserve and the mountains beyond. Of course the wildlife is the highlight. This is big game territory but the overall variety of animal and birdlife is impressive. The reserve is home to Elephant, White Rhino, lion, Cape Buffalo, Cape Mountain Zebra, hippo, giraffe and springbok to name a few.

The Accommodation

There are 14 spacious standalone units each with a large bathroom with rain shower and bath with a picture window. The main open plan room has a king bed, indoor seating area by the fireplace and a separate dressing area. There is also a private covered patio with loungers to relax and enjoy the views.

All rooms have hairdryers, a tea station, bar fridge and a safe. There is also WIFI available.

Facilities

The main lodge has an open plan lounge, bar and a curio shop. There is a range of indoor and outdoor spots for dining. The lodge also has a bush spa for some pampering and a highlight is the infinity pool with shaded loungers and a bar service.

Activities

Game drives are twice daily giving you plenty of opportunity to explore the area and its wildlife. The junior ranger programme encourages children to be engaged and learn about their surroundings. In addition there are 4 mountain bike trails with 8 bikes and helmets available for guest use, you can also join a guided bush walk and of course enjoy the spa.
