OVERVIEW
More than just a safari experience. This itinerary still highlights the popular regions of the unique country of Botswana and its rich wildlife. While also giving an insight into the people and the communities local to the places you’re visiting.
Guests get a chance to be involved with the local communities, to understand about everyday life and its challenges. Activities in this tour include a visit to a childrens community project, a stop at a local craft market and a visit to the Khumaga village.
This tour is also about supporting and empowering the local community. Working with accommodation providers who give back to the local community and support local projects. Additionally £100 per person from this itinerary will be donated to the Kazungula Childrens Ark project. Which you will get the chance to visit whilst staying at Chobe Game Lodge.
We have partnered with Desert and Delta for this package. They proudly operate their camps with a great understanding of the responsibility they have to the people who rely on the tourism they bring to Botswana.
They ensure wherever possible they employ local staff, get involved with local community advancement projects and focus on empowering local women. Behind their business lies the key focus on the environment around them and the protection of the incredible wildlife.

ITINERARY

DAY 1
Met on arrival into Kasane and transfer by road to Chobe Game Lodge. Depending on arrival time you may be able to enjoy an afternoon game drive or a sunset cruise on the Chobe River.
Chobe Game Lodge is a fantastic example of a lodge that considers the impact of the environment around them, working with the local community and taking time to develop their staff. Chobe Game lodge is unique in having a fleet of electric CO2 emission free vehicles and safari boats. They are also proud to boast Africa’s first all female safari guiding team.

DAY 2
An early start as you head into the Chobe National Park on a game drive in search of the local wildlife. You will get a chance to visit the wonderful Kazungula Children’s Ark project.
Kazungula Children’s Ark Support Group is a fully registered organisation and works together with Social and Community Development. The aim is to provide a safe space for orphans, needy and vulnerable children between 2 1/2 – 6 years old.
After this special visit there is the chance to stop off in Kasane town at a local craft market to look for souvenirs and support local business.

DAY 3
Morning and afternoon game activities organised by the lodge.
Desert and Delta are focused on their staff and aim to train local people, help those staff already within the lodges to progress and also make sure the staff are well looked after. Staff including management are predominantly Botswanan. 50% of the camp management across the group are women.

DAY 4
Depart Chobe Game lodge and transfer to Kasane airport for your light aircraft flight to the Moremi Game Reserve. Transfer to Camp Xakanaxa. After a welcome from the friendly team, head off on your first safari in this game rich area

DAY 5 & 6
The focus on your stay here is very much about enjoying the safari experience. Either by vehicle or boat. Moremi Game Reserve is part of the Okavango Delta and is a safari lover’s paradise. Large herds of Impala and Tsessebe are found in the area. While in the dry season buffalo, wildebeest, elephant and zebra flock into the reserve. The sitatunga and lechwe antelope which can only be found. As well as lions, cheetah and wild dogs. It is also a delight for birders with over 400 species of birds, including the African fish eagle.

DAY 7
Leave Xakanaxa for your last stop on this memorable trip as you fly to the Makgadigadi and Leroo La Tau Lodge. Leroo La Tau and its staff are completely intertwined with the local community in this isolated area of Botswana. The support they provide is invaluable.
The Youth Development Program aims to create workplace opportunities for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. They work closely with Khumaga Primary School and Khumaga Village providing amongst other things career advice and education assistance

DAY 8 & 9
As well as having the opportunity to explore this fascinating area and its wildlife you can gain an understanding the animal conservation programmes in place.
A visit is also included to the Khumaga village to learn about life and get a better understanding of the people of the country. You might visit a local school, traditional court and also visit a local farm.

DAY 10
Your final morning and you say goodbye to this beautiful country. With memories of the amazing people, the wildlife and stunning landscapes.
