SHIPWRECK LODGE

The hauntingly desolate Skeleton Coast is probably one of the most recognised spots in Namibia and also the most remote. Shipwreck Lodge is the only lodge in the Skeleton Coast National Park and it has been specifically designed to fit in with its surroundings. The unqiue cabins, all look like the dramatic shipwrecks that litter the shoreline in the area.

OVERVIEW

Aside from the breathtaking views and the off the beaten track feel, Shipwreck Lodge provides the opportunity to seek out some fascinating wildlife that has adapted to make itself at home here. These include black rhino, elephant, black faced impala and the Hartmann’s mountain zebra.

Add to this the impressive sand dunes and fascinating coastline and you have a completely unique location that is worth the extra effort to reach.

Accommodation

The shipwreck inspired cabins are well spaced from each other and have decks to enjoy the local landscape. There are 10 in total that include 2 family cabins, with 2 extra beds. All cabins are ensuite with indoor showers and are solar powered. Wood burning stoves keep the cabins warm from the cold that can blow across from the sea.

Facilities

A rustic but contemporary style runs through the comofrtable lounge and dining area. The highlight being the uninterrupted views all the way down to the sea. WiFi and charging facilities are available.

Activities

Wildlife Drives, sundowner dune drives and 4×4 river excursions are all possible. As well as a day excursion to the Mowe Bay seal colony, shipwreck spotting and beach lunches if the weather allows. For the more active Quad biking trips and sandboarding can also be organised.
