DAMARALAND CAMP

Accommodation at Damaraland consists of ten tented and thatched units including a family unit. Each is raised on individual wooden decking; part of which extends to form a large viewing deck with superb close and distant vistas over the rocky landscape. Recently refurbished, each tent has en-suite facilities, a walk-in dressing area and built-in fan.

The spacious thatched living area consists of comfortable seating and a dining area and bar complete with fireplace. The pool is a welcome cool off in the heat of the Namibian summer. Evening meals at Damaraland Camp are often prepared over an open fire and served out ‘al fresco’ in an area close-by with a path of lanterns leading the way. An open campfire and outdoor ‘boma’ can be enjoyed during calm evenings, with superb stargazing in the crystal clear night sky.

Large game is not found regularly in this part of Namibia, with the natural cycle of rainfall dictating the seasonal movement of wildlife along the Huab River.

Activities at Damaraland Camp revolve around the Haub River system with guided nature drives and walks. Morning and afternoon drives in search for desert-adapted elephant are a great favourite. Gemsbok, greater kudu, springbok, and occasionally lion, cheetah, elephants and black rhino can sometimes be spotted. Nearby is some of Africa’s best known rock engravings, including those at Twyfelfontein.
