Camp Kipwe is situated near the Aba Huab River in the Kunene region of north-western Namibia, nestling amongst the granite boulders with a stunning outlook over it surroundings. Kipwe offers a refreshing perspective on a traditional safari.
OVERVIEW
The accommodation at Camp Kipwe has a natural feel to it and comprises nine rooms plus one suite, all round in shape to blend in with the adjacent boulders and each with large outside decks to take advantage of the views. The exterior, partially open bathrooms adjoining the bedrooms have boulder, cement and rock walls, and roofs of rough mopane branches. Hot water is supplied by wood-burning ‘donkey’ boilers. The camps impact on its environment is minimal.
The central guest area of Camp Kipwe is raised and consists of four thatched domes housing the reception area, dining room, lounge and bar all with beautiful views toward the Aba Huab. There is also a boma for fire-cooked meals under the incredible Namibian night sky. The lounge area is comfortably furnished and uses natural materials throughout. To cool guests down in the heat of the Namibian summer there is a small swimming pool built into the rocks, whilst a viewing deck offers stunning panoramic views.
Activities at the camp include nature drives with the possibility of seeing the desert-adapted elephants in the dry season, Twyfelfontein excursions to the rock engravings and guided walks in front of the camp with Kipwe’s experienced guides.
