Nestled in the Quirimbas Archipelago and nominated for World Heritage status, Ibo Island forms one of a string of over thirty islands that are both remote and untouched by the modern world. Steeped in history with habitation dating back to the 16th century, when it was an important trading post, Ibo is one of the oldest inhabited islands in Mozambique.
OVERVIEW
The lodge is situated in a superb location next to the beach and is divided between three historic mansions, with Villa Paradiso and Villa Niassa offering guest accommodation in fourteen bedrooms, whilst Villa Bela Vista houses the roof-top restaurant (ideal for watching the sun sink into the Indian Ocean), bar and pool area.
The accommodation at Ibo Island Lodge are individually and beautifully crafted with many opening onto private verandas, their interiors furnished with hand-crafted locals furniture and soft cushions covered in colourful local fabrics. All rooms are air-conditioned, have ceiling fans and offer en-suite facilities with twin basins and large marble showers. Some have baths and outside showers. Ibo Island Lodge offers a wide range of activities from diving, snorkelling, Dhow sunset cruises, and kayaking & mangrove excursions, to cultural and local community interaction. Ibo Island Lodge offers an excellent beach holiday extension to a safari in southern Tanzania should you feel that Zanzibar is a little too main stream for you.
