Mkulumadzi is an exclusive luxury lodge set in a 14,000 acre wildlife concession in southern Malawi on a lush riverbank within the Majete Wildlife Reserve, a vast region of mature woodland and granite hills, picturesque river valleys and dense forest. It is home to the elusive black rhino, along with elephant, buffalo, nyala, sable, eland and hartebeest. Four leopards were reintroduced in 2011/12 as part of a pioneering conservation project. Lions were recently re-introduced making Majete a Big 5 Reserve.
OVERVIEW
The lodge has eight superb chalets, each with spacious living quarters and private viewing deck. Guests can swim in the pool, dine under the stars, enjoy river cruises, enjoy game viewing in 4×4 safari vehicles or on foot or just relax in the hide and let the wildlife come to you! Regular visitors include buffalo, sable, eland, black rhino and elephant.
Malawi is not visited by large numbers of tourists, unlike its larger neighbours Zambia and Tanzania and Majete has been largely undiscovered by tourists, making it an ideal destination to explore in tranquility.
Mkulumadzi is owned and managed by Robin Pope Safaris, which was founded in 1986 and has earned a reputation as one of Africa’s leading safari companies. The standards of accommodation, hospitality, guiding and catering are first rate.
At Mkulumadzi you can be as active or as idle as you wish. Head into the bush to track rhino, hike to the peak of Majete Hill, take a cultural tour of local villages or simply lounge on the shaded riverbank listening to the gentle grunt of hippos.
