MVUU LODGE

Mvuu Lodge is situated overlooking a tranquil lagoon, located just off the Shire River, which flows south from Lake Malawi, the third largest fresh water lake in Africa. The area captivates variety and beauty that can be viewed from the main lounge building, which is set high above the water offering guests a luxurious African experience.

OVERVIEW

Accommodation at Mvuu Lodge consists of just eight spacious tents, including a twin tented family unit. Each tent has en-suite facilities and a private viewing platform overlooking the lagoon. Guest facilities include a dining room, a bar, lounge area, extensive wildlife library with telescope, a hide overlooking the river and a swimming pool.

Mvuu meaning “hippo” in Tonga reflects the large numbers of pods of these water-loving mammals that inhabit the area around the camp. Other wildlife found in this lush and fertile area include elephant, sable antelope, impala and waterbuck.

Activities include boat trips on the Shire River, game drives (morning and afternoon/evening), birding, nature walks and bike rides. No visit to Mvuu Lodge is complete without a visit to one of the local villages to experience the local culture.
