Premier Botswana Gold is a 9 night, three camp safari itinerary taking in a diverse range of habitats, of wildlife and of game viewing experiences. The safari offers complete luxury at three stunning camps.
The safari starts in the heart of the Okavango Delta at Jao Camp, a stylish mixed activity camp overlooking the delta floodplain, just a short flight by light aircraft from Maun, before moving northwards to Vumbura Plains Camp, a mixed activity camp which is located on one of the Okavango’s permanent water channels, where activities range from game viewing in open top 4×4 safari vehicles, through to guided walks and afternoons spent in a mekoros (a type of dugout canoe) gliding silently through the crystal clear Okavango waterways. Your safari finishes at Kings Pool, on the edge of a lagoon, named after Swedish royalty, and its surrounding woodlands which are home to huge herds of elephants.
The itinerary is tailor-made safari and can be adapted to suit your requirements.
Starts and ends in Maun, although an extension to Victoria Falls can easily be added to finish your safari in Livingstone.

- Day 1
Met on arrival into Maun, and having cleared immigration and customs assisted to your light aircraft for a 30 minutes transfer to to the Jao Concession of the western part of the Okavango Delta and to Jao Camp for a three night stay. The Jao Concession is an almost 150,000 acre area which includes the largest expanse of dry land during the annual inundation, consisting of floodplains, lush palm islands and more dense mopane woodland. Jao Camp is a Premier grade camp and comprises just nine luxurious en-suite safari tents with an outside deck (with shower) overlooking the flood plain. Each room also has a sala and hammock for relaxing during the day. The communal parts of Jao are elaborate with the main building having two storeys containing a lounge, dining area, a library, the spa, a gym and a curio shop. Outside Jao has two plunge pools, a boma and a wine cellar.
- Days 2 & 3
Game viewing activities as arranged by Jao Camp in open top 4×4 safari vehicles, both by day and at night, on guided walks or by mokoro or boat (water level dependent). Signature wildlife in the area varies season to season but elephants are often seen attracted by the mopane woodland.
- Day 4
Today you’ll be flown by light aircraft transfer from Jao Camp to the Vumbura Concession in the northern Okavango Delta near the pan handle and to Vumbura Plains Camp for a three night stay. The area surrounding Vumbura Plains is of a similar size to Jao but has an incredible mix of mopane and acacia woodland, floodplains and permanent swamps, leading to excellent game viewing and bird-life. The camp is of Premier grade and has two wings (north & south) linked by a long raised walkway; the two camps have fourteen large and airy en-suite safari rooms between them which also benefit from an outdoor seating area, outdoor shower and plunge pool. There are also two family units – perfect for a family of four. The bar and dining room offer extensive views over the nearby floodplain.
- Days 5 & 6
Game viewing activities as arranged by Vumbura Plains either in 4×4 safari vehicles, on guided walks and on boating and mokoro excursions. The area around the camps are in one of the most prolific game areas in Botswana where wildlife such as sable. tsessabe, lechwe and wild dog amongst the animals you may see.
- Day 7
Light aircraft transfer from Vumbura Plains to Kings Pool in the Linyanti, on the western edge of the Chobe National Park, home to huge herds of elephants especially during the dry season. The Linyanti is a 300,000 acre safari concession comprising principally mopane woodland with strips of riverine forest and some floodplains alongside the Linyanti River. Kings Pool, named after Swedish royalty is a Premier grade of camp with just nine luxuriously appointed en-suite guest rooms, including one for a family. Each has a veranda, plunge pool and separate thatched sala to relax in the heat of the day. The lounge and dining areas are set on raised decking close to the pool and boma for outdoor dining.
- Days 8 & 9
Game viewing activities as arranged by Kings Pool, in open top 4×4 safari vehicles and guided walks are also offered. The camp also offers river cruises, water level dependent on the barge the Queen Sylvia. The wildlife in the area is superb with large mating herds of elephant, sable and roan antelope (in the winter), reedbuck, lechwe, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog.
- Day 10
Light aircraft flight to Maun in time to connect with your onward international flight – or perhaps an extension to the Victoria Falls?
