Intimate Botswana is a 9 night, three camp safari itinerary taking in a diverse range of habitats, of wildlife and of game viewing experiences, each in camps that have no more than five tent units – Little Mombo, is one of the most exclusive camps in the Okavango Delta, and Little Tubu only has three rooms! So if you like small, intimate camps and a touch of real luxury to finish, this itinerary is for you.
Your safari starts just a short flight away from Maun in the south of the Okavango Delta at Chitabe Lediba Camp, a stunning land based activity camp overlooking a waterhole, before flying across almost the entire width of the delta to Little Tubu, a mixed activity camp on the isolated Hunda Island overlooking a seasonal floodplain. Your safari finishes at Little Mombo, an opulently furnished camp intimate camp located on the northern tip of Chief’s Island, the largest landmass in the delta.
The itinerary is a tailor made safari and can be adapted to suit your requirements.

N.B. Little Mombo is in the process of a major refurbishment and it closed until 30th June – prior to that date guests will be accommodate at Mombo Camp.

- Day 1
Met on arrival into Maun with, having cleared immigration and customs, a short scheduled light aircraft transfer to the Chitabe Concession in the south-eastern Okavango Delta and Chitabe Lediba Camp for a three night stay. The Chitabe Concession is some 54,000 acres in size and offers a safari experience in diverse habitats including acacia and mopane woodlands to the east and floodplains with wooded islands to the west, which makes for diverse game viewing. Chitabe Lediba is set on a small tree filled island and offers its guests just five Meru style spacious en-suite tented rooms, each on elevated decks with views over the permanently dry floodplain. The communal area is light and airy with a good sized pool tucked away from the main area.
- Days 2 & 3
Chitabe Lediba is solely a land based game viewing activities with open 4×4 safari vehicles shaded by a top canopy. Being outside the Moremi Game Reserve, Chitabe can offer both day and night game drives. The area around the camp is known for superb sightings of elephants and buffalo as well as regular sightings of wild dog and lion.
- Day 4
Light aircraft transfer from Chitabe Lediba Camp to the isolated Little Tubu on Hunda Island in the Jao Concession of the north-western Okavango Delta. The Jao Concession is almost 150,000 acres in size and becomes the largest piece of dry land in the Okavango following the arrival of the annual inundation arrives in May. Hunda Island is largely covered in acacia and mopane woodland. The camp is attached, but kept separate despite this, to Tubu Tree by a raised wooden walkway. Little Tubu has just five en-suite safari tents each with private decks. The dining and bar area is likewise elevated and shaded by a strip of riverine forest, as is the pool deck which is set lower than the rest of the camp.
- Days 5 & 6
Game viewing activities as arranged by Little Tubu, either in 4×4 safari vehicles by day or night and on boating and canoe excursions (water level dependent). There is also a seasonal hide for sleep-outs or game viewing. Signature game in the area includes leopard, hippo, sitatunga and necked otter.
- Day 7
Light aircraft transfer from Little Tubu to the Moremi Game Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta towards the northern tip of Chief’s Island. The island is the major feature of the Mombo Concession with habitats varying from acacia woodland and grassy floodplains to riverine strips with swampy edges. Little Mombo is arguably the most intimate camp in the Okavango with just five luxurious en-suite safari rooms; this make the camp perfect for small groups or large families for sole use.
- Days 8 & 9
Game viewing activities as arranged by Little Mombo, where the game viewing is both abundant and varied with large prides of lion as well as the other major predators and large herds of plains game, such as red lechwe and zebra, often seen.
- Day 10
Light aircraft flight to Maun in time to connect with your onward international flight – or perhaps an extension to the Kalahari Desert and Jack’s Camp for something totally different?
