Diverse Botswana – Silver
- In Detail
The Diverse Botswana safari is a 9 night, three camp itinerary taking in a diverse range of habitats, of wildlife and of game viewing experiences.
The safari starts when you arrive in Maun for your flight south to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, famed for its outstanding wildlife and to Kalahari Plains Camp, a stunning tented camp overlooking an immense and seasonally fertile pan. You then move northwards into the Khwai region of the Okavango Delta and to Camp Xakanaxa a mixed activity camp, on the edge of the Moremi Game Reserve. Your safari finishes at Kwetsani Camp, an intimate camp located towards the upper reaches of the Okavango, where activities range from game viewing in open top 4×4 safari vehicles, through to guided walks and afternoons spent in a mokoro (dugout canoe) gliding silently through the crystal clear waterways. Boat excursions are water level dependant.
The itinerary is a tailor made safari and can be adapted to suit your requirements.

- Day 1
Met on arrival into Maun with a light aircraft transfer to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and Kalahari Plains Camp for a three night stay. The Kalahari Desert extends over 360,000 sq kms and encompasses vast stretches of Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. It’s characterised by huge dry salt pans and semi-arid bush land. The wildlife that exists in this tough environment is either uniquely adapted to survive or migrates there following its limited rains. Kalahari Plains Camp is an eight en-suite safari camp overlooking one of the pans. The rooms are raised to allow the breeze to circulate and cool the rooms, each of which also has a flat roof for sleep out under the seemingly endless night skies.
- Days 2 & 3
Game viewing activities as arranged by Kalahari Plains Camp in open top 4×4 safari vehicles or on guided walks, Bushmen experiences and day trips to Deception Valley are also offered. Certain wildlife may be seen here that are not easily seen in other parts of Botswana such as aardvark, aardwolf, bat eared foxes and honey-badgers.
- Day 4
Light aircraft transfer from Kalahari Plains Camp via Maun to Camp Xakanaxa in the Khwai Concession on the north-eastern edge of the Moremi Game Reserve for a three night stay. The Khwai Concession is on the outer edges of the Okavango Delta, where the number of safari camps and lodges are low but the game viewing still excellent. It is largely a land based concession although the River Khwai does flow through it, so camps based on/near its banks such as Banoka Bush Camp and Camp Xakanaxa offer a variety of game viewing activities.
- Days 5 & 6
Game viewing activities as arranged by Camp Xakanaxa, either in 4×4 safari vehicles, on guided walks and on boating and canoe excursions (water level dependent).
- Day 7
Light aircraft transfer from Camp Xakanaxa to Kwetsani Camp located in the Jao Concession, in the upper reaches of the Okavango Delta for a three night stay. The area around Kwetsani is incredibly with floodplains to palm fringed islands and acacia and mopane woodland, which attracts a wide range of wildlife such as elephant, giraffe, hippo and lion. Kwersani has just five en-suite safari thatched rooms each with outdoor showers and are raised to maximise the views and for cooling .
- Days 8 & 9
Game viewing activities as arranged by Kwetsani Camp, where activities include game viewing in 4×4 safari vehicles, mokoro excursions and boats trips to Hundu Island, water level dependent. There is also a seasonal hide for game viewing and sleep outs.
- Day 10
