- Day 1
You’ll arrive into Kasane, most probably on a flight from Johannesburg, where after clearing immigration and customs you will be met and assisted to your vehicle for the 15 minute road transfer to Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero for a three night stay. Chobe Chillwero is a luxury fifteen room retreat situated on the banks of the Chobe River which runs alongside the Chobe National Park, home to one of the largest populations of elephants in Africa. The lodge offers superb vistas from it’s split level swimming pool and has the only full spa in Botswana. Chobe Chilwero is elegence and exclusivity personified and is the ideal way to start your safari adventure.
- Days 2 & 3
Game viewing activities as arranged by Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero in 4×4 safari vehicles or on safari boats on the Chobe River. Your typical safari day will start with an early wake-up call, just as dawn is breaking, followed by a light breakfast before you head out on your safari activity. Safaris activities are always arranged around dawn and dusk as this is when the wildlife especially the principal predators are active. Expect to be out for about two to three hours depending on what you see, with a break for early morning coffee and a comfort break, returning to camp around 10:00 with brunch served at around 11:30. The rest of your day will be at leisure, before you meet for afternoon tea and head out on your afternoon activity.
- Day 4
This morning you will transferred from Chobe Chilwreo by road back to Kasane in time for your light aircraft transfer to Mombo Camp or Little Mombo in the Okavango Delta. Little Mombo is located towards the north-eastern tip of Chiefs Island in the Moremi Game Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta. The Mombo family of camps are amongst the highest grade of camps in Botswana and are sited in one of the most game rich environments in the Okavango, being particularly known for its herds of Cape Buffalos and prides of lion. The camps overlook the savannah floodplains where large concentrations of game can be seen without even having to leave camp.
- Days 5 & 6
Game viewing activities as arranged by Mombo in 4×4 safari vehicles. Guided walks are not allowed within the Moremi Game Reserve. The area around Mombo offers some of the best game viewing in Bostwana and you may well see lion, cape buffalo, elephant & perhaps even rhino.
- Day 7
Light aircraft transfer from the Mombo airstrip to Abu Camp, just outside the Moremi Game Reserve but still within the Okavango Delta. Abu has just six tented en-suite rooms set on the edge of a seasonal flooded (May to September) lagoon, which teems with plains game and bird-life. The light and airy rooms are well spaced with each offering a tree-shaded deck all with views over the lagoon. The communal parts of Abu feature a well-stocked library and study for those seeking some solitude. Apart from 4×4 safaris, walks and mokoro trips (water level dependent) Abu also offers elephant interaction, walking through the bush with the herd. For a really unique experience have an overnight in Abu’s ‘star bed’ hide, situated directly above the elephant enclosure becoming as close to being part of the herd as you you can possibly be. Abu is a truly special experience.
- Days 8 & 9
Game viewing activities as arranged by Abu, with activities including game drives in open top 4×4 safari vehicles by day or night, guided walks (with or without elephants for company!) and mokoro excursions (water level dependent). Packs of wild dog (African Hunting Dogs) traverse through Abu’s concession as do hyena and scores of plains game.
- Day 10
Light aircraft flight to Maun in time to connect with your onward international flight – or perhaps an extension to the Kalahari Desert for something totally different?
