Luangwa River Camp is located on the banks of the Luangwa River which forms the border of the world renowned South Luangwa National Park in central Zambia. South Luangwa is arguably one of only a few remaining unspoiled wilderness areas and one of the finest wildlife sanctuaries in Africa covering an area about half the size of Wales. The ox bow lagoons, miombo woodland and plains of the Luangwa Valley are home to huge concentrations of wildlife including elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, giraffe, hippo, wild dog and puku as well as over four hundred species of birds.
Accommodation at Luangwa River Camp comprises just five tastefully decorated bush suites, of brick and thatched construction and featuring en-suite facilities with a sunken bathtub looking out onto guest own private corner of the valley. The suites have large folding glass doors leading onto a decked area with great views over the river into the park.
The main area of the camp stretches over multi layered decks with a built in double plunge pool linked by a water feature. Seating areas around the pool or in the shade of the open plan bar on the highest level all offer uninterrupted views across the river and into .
Luangwa River Camp offers all the creature comforts of a lodge yet retains the intimacy and privacy of a bush camp.
Game viewing is excellent with the valley renowned for its leopard sighting and huge pods of hippo and endemic species – each season brings something new to see. Birding is superb especially during the migratory season of November onwards.
