Chiawa Camp, a sister camp to Old Mondoro, is located on the banks of the Zambezi River in the lower Zambezi National Park of southern Zambia. The camp is sited under a grove of mahogany trees and blends almost seamlessly with its idyllic surroundings, providing a retreat in which guests receive the friendliest of welcomes and the widest of smiles and leave as friends.
Accommodation at Chiawa comprises of luxury tents (including Tent No IX, which is ideal for honey-moon couples, all featuring timber floors, king size beds with Egyptian cotton sheets and en-suite facilities equipped a “ball & claw foot” bath, twin wash-basins and indoor & outdoor shower. The tents are accessed by paths running behind them to maximise privacy whilst to the front the tents’ verandas offer excellent views over the river. All the tents share ample comforts, conveniences and unexpected luxuries such as round the clock electric lighting with charging facilities, and hot & cold running water.
At Chiawa Camp the game viewing is all about the wildlife, the bush and the river, and an impressive variety of safari activities, from game drives in open top 4×4 safari vehicles to water based activities all backed up by a modern fleet of vehicles and boats. Walking safaris are also offered, led by an award winning team of Africa-born guides.
