Pumulani, meaning “rest well” in the local language, is an exclusive beach lodge on the shoreline of Lake Malawi, within Lake Malawi National Park.
The lodge comprises ten individually-designed villas, of differing sizes, fanned out along a lush hillside overlooking the lake. Each villa boasts a large bedroom with a spacious living area and a private deck with lake view. The en-suite bathrooms offer a bath, double sized shower and twin sinks. Nestled in lush hills above the still waters of Lake Malawi, the villas provide the ultimate in design and comfort. Their distinctive grass roofs’ reflects the heat of the African sun while the simple and elegant interiors ensure comfort and privacy.
Guests can relax on the sandy beach or next to the stylish infinity pool. For those seeking more strenuous activities, there is waterskiing, sailing, diving, wakeboarding, kayaking, snorkelling, fishing and bird-watching.
At sunset scenic cruises on a traditional wooden dhow are offered. It’s the perfect way to experience the beauty of Lake Malawi, described by the famous explorer David Livingstone as The Lake of Stars.
The lodge is part of Robin Pope Safaris portfolio of properties, one of the finest safari companies in Africa and can be easily combined with their lodges in the South Luangwa valley in Zambia. With high standards and friendly service guaranteed, Pumulani is the perfect location for a relaxing beach holiday, or a magical place to unwind after a safari in Liwonde or Majete National Parks.
