Abu Camp is located in the south-western sector of the Okavango Delta in Botswana and provides guests with an extraordinary ability of interacting with elephants, of becoming part of the herd, meeting individual members. This is probably the ultimate in elephant encounters.
Abu is on the edge of an ancient riverine forest and consists of just six unique Afro-Bedouin style en-suite tents which are large and airy and blend in with their surroundings. Each tent has its own shaded deck overlooking the lagoon.
The guest areas of Abu feature a lounge, dining area with a well stocked library and study all of which overlook the surrounding floodplains. There is also a gym for those more energetic guests. Sundowners, it not out on a game drive, are served around the fire-pit and are followed by superb evening meals with matched wines.
The focus of activities is unsurprisingly centred around the elephants with guests able to both ride on the elephants and to walk with them on foot.
Abu Camp also offers morning and afternoon game drives, night drives and nature walks to view the abundance of fauna and flora in the area. During the seasonal floods of the Okavango Delta, guests are invited to take to the waters in the eokoros, the traditional poled craft used in the Okavango Delta. Guided walks are available on request.
