VUMBURA PLAINS CAMP

The Kwedi concession, which is leased from the neighbouring community, is enormous at well over 200,000 acres and includes so many habitats that almost all of the diversity of wildlife that Botswana has can be found here; from the dry, land loving Sable to the shy swamp dwelling Sitatunga.

The accommodation’s large, luxurious rooms are raised off the ground on wooden decks and each comprises a bedroom, lounge, shower and full en-suite bathroom. An outdoor shower completes the facilities. The rooms are open on three sides, and the billowing curtains between the areas create the sense of a yacht sailing through the floodplain waters. Each room also has a plunge pool and sala – a comfortable area to relax in the shade.

The two satellite camps at Vumbura Plains Camp are each built on raised decking and have their own dining area, lounge and a bar – all set in the shade. The views from the open decks, across the Okavango Delta’s floodplains, are superb and together with a star-gazing deck with comfortable cushions allow for a tranquil place to study the southern hemisphere night sky or to sip a glass of your choice around the fire. A spa completes your experience.

Vumbura Plains game viewing activities consists of both land and water activities in open 4×4 vehicles or on mokoro trips and boat excursions. Guided walking is also available.
