DUBA EXPEDITION CAMP

Duba Expedition Camp opened in April 2016 close to (well just 3 kms away) from the site of the old Duba Plains, one of our longstanding favourite camps in Botswana, which is undergoing a total rebuild. The camp sits in a classic Okavango landscape of palm doted islands, flood plains and woodland and is one of the most remote camps, situated in the far reaches of the Okavango Delta. The camp is sited on a tree-covered island in a 77,000 acre region known as the Kwedi Reserve, near the Okavango Panhandle and connected to the wildlife areas by a set of bridges.

OVERVIEW

Duba is a small and intimate camp and comprises just six airy expeditions style tents each on raised decking and with an en-suite bathroom with double basin and veranda with panoramic views of the floodplains of the Okavango. The main guest area is under a sweeping marquis canvas and consist of an open-concept dining and lounge area which opens to the outdoors on all sides. In the evenings guests congregate at the fire pit to recount their tales of their day on safari.

Game viewing in the area is diverse with at times large herds of buffalo and their associated predators, large number of elephants feed on the islands around Duba Expedition Camp, whilst hippo abound in the deeper channels. Tsessebe and blue wildebeest inhabit the grassy plains, while red lechwe are found on the edges of the floodplains. Bird life is always superb in the Okavango Delta, with Rosy-throated Longclaw, Slaty Egret and Wattled Crane often seen.

Duba offers a variety of activities including day and night game drives in open top 4×4 safari vehicles, often tracking the buffalo herd around the concession, and leisurely nature walks. Boat cruises are dependent on the seasonal water levels in the Kwedi.
