SAVUTI

Savuti Camp is a luxury tented camp located in the vast Linyanti Wildlife Reserve on the western boundary of Chobe National Park in northern Botswana. It is situated close to the source of the Savute Channel in an isolated part of the Linyanti. The Savute Channel was dry for almost 30 years but in 2008 it began flowing again and is now a clear waterway home to a large number of hippo and other aquatic life with myriad of water-birds. The wildlife, in all its forms, has had to adapt to this new source of water and all the opportunities and threats that comes with it.

OVERVIEW

With two-thirds of the Savute Channel located in the concession, guests at Savuti Camp have private and exclusive access to the abundant game that occurs, season by season.

Savuti’s accommodation is in seven large walk-in en-suite tents raised off the ground and all facing the Savute Channel. The guest areas of the camp comprise a thatched dining area, a plunge pool and large viewing area with fire pit extend outwards on raised wooden decks. All have magnificent views of the Savute Channel and its wildlife.

Guests can explore the Linyanti via day and night game drives in open top 4×4’s, on nature walks with a guide, and via several well-positioned hides for safe intimate animal viewing. Elephant viewing in the drier winter months is excellent, whilst concentrations of other wildlife are high with such species as roan and sable antelope, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, spotted hyena, and black-backed jackal. Wild dog may also be seen especially when they den. In winter, this area can also be excellent for the sought-after aardvark and aardwolf.

Savuti now also has two sleep out decks, where guests can spend a night overlooking the Savute Channel. A highly trained ranger stays with the guests and either a bush dinner round the camp fire or bush breakfast is laid-on. Great fun!
