Situated in the Eastern Caprivi of Namibia, a narrow (by African standards) strip of land bounded by the Chobe River to the south and Zambia to it’s north, Chobe Savanna overlooks the Puku Flats, a vast floodplain in the northern sector of the Chobe National Park. The lodge offers a maximum of twenty four guests a quiet hideaway from the busier lodges located nearer to Kasane and is perfect for those looking for an exclusive Chobe experience in an area well known for its diverse wildlife.
OVERVIEW
The main guest area of Chobe Savanna Lodge is a thatched open-sided building offering guests stunning views over the Chobe River towards the Chobe National Park. Accommodation is in air-conditioned thatched chalets each with an en-suite bedroom, a lounge area and a private deck. Although guests are welcome to join in the scheduled game activities, Chobe Savanna is a wonderful venue to simply take time out to watch the world go by in one of the most spectacular settings.
The environs of the Chobe River offers home to large herds of elephant, buffalo and hippo, as well as concentrations of other wildlife especially puku antelope – which come down to the river’s edge to graze and drink. Excursions in small, easily manoeuvrable boats are ideal for viewing the abundant wildlife on the river’s edge. Angling is also a popular pastime, with the “catch-and-release” fishing for bream or tiger fish a firm favourite.
