The Chobe National Park is seperated from the Caprivi Strip of Namibia by the mighty Chobe and Zambezi Rivers and is home to some huge herds of elephant that visit the forest lined rivers to drink and to cool down. Further inland the park features grassy plains and is the only place where the puku antelope can be seen. The plains also feature the rare roan and sable antelopes and are frequented by giraffes, buffaloes and predators including a healthy population of wild dog. In the waters of the Chobe, huge crocodiles bask in the sunshine and pods of hippo lie submerged.

VISITING THE CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
Bird-life in the Chobe is almost unparalleled in Africa, especially during November when the migratory birds arrive. Signature species include Pel’s Fishing Owl, African Skimmers, Pied & Malachite Kingfishers and Fish Eagles.
The winter months (April to September) are dry and sunny but still warm during the day (cool at night) whilst the summer months (October to March) are characterised by the arrival of the rains and can be very hot.
